How does PRP hair restoration work and how is it performed?
Platelet-rich plasma promotes hair restoration through tiny blood cells (i.e. platelets) that target the Dermal Papilla, which is an indentation at the base of the hair follicle. The actual procedure of PRP treatment for hair restoration is a streamlined and non-invasive three-step process. When you arrive at New Look Medical Spa for your appointment, the first thing that will occur after the check-in process is a nurse or another medical professional will draw blood from your arm. Secondly, the blood will be put in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood. This stage takes about ten minutes. When it is completed, the blood will be separated into three layers, namely, platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells. Finally, the platelet-rich plasma is drawn into a syringe and then injected into the specified areas of the scalp that require hair restoration. During this stage, the medical professional will likely provide you with a topical anesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable for you. This process generally takes about one hour and you will more than likely be able to resume your daily activities without any complications.
To maintain great results, you will likely need to continue with treatment every four to six months.
What causes hair loss in men?
While there are many possible contributing factors to hair loss in men, the most common cause is a result of genetics and aging. Men commonly begin to experience hair loss in their mid-30s to early 40s.
